The Kazan Kremlin (Tatar: Казань каримэне) is the oldest part and citadel of Kazan, a complex of architectural, historical and archaeological monuments that reveal the centuries-old history of the city: archaeological remains of the first (12th-13th centuries), second (14th-15th centuries) and third settlements (15th-16th centuries), the white-stone Kremlin itself, a number of churches and buildings of great historical, architectural and cultural value.

The official residence of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan; a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 and a cultural heritage site of Russia of federal significance.

The main city landmark and "calling card" of Kazan.

It is located on the cape of the high terrace of the left bank of the Kazanka River on its course in the city center, more than a kilometer from its mouth.

The Kremlin territory is an irregular polygon in plan, repeating the outlines of the Kremlin hill, stretching from the northwest, from the Kazanka River, to the southeast, to the 1 May Square.

The longitudinal walls and slopes face the Millennium (southwestern) and Palace (northeastern) squares.
